SPORE Co-Funding and Partnerships
Gateway for Cancer Research
The NCI has partnered with Gateway for Cancer Research, a non-profit foundation, that supports investigational trials for the benefit of patients with cancer. SPORE and P20 Cancer Health Disparities Planning Grants are invited to apply, in a special category, for support to conduct clinical trials. These can be (1) new trials associated with the organ site or theme of the awarded SPORE, (2) trials that are ongoing in the SPORE but now include an additional trial arm, (3) trials that are ongoing in the SPORE but now add a new patient cohort, or (4) new correlative analyses that will move translational research to a higher level. Basic research will not be supported, nor will indirect costs. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are aggregated for review and Gateway board approval four times a year. Applicants can apply directly through Gateway's grant management system using this link which provides further information.
National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR)
Translational research in Head and Neck Cancer SPOREs covers a wide range of projects in prevention, early detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of head and neck patients. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) currently agreed to co-sponsor this organ site specific program with the National Cancer Institute.
