Emily A. Hanlen, MEd, MPH joined the Translational Research Program (TRP) in February 2025 as a Program Coordinator and Grants Management Executive Contractor. Ms. Hanlen assists the TRP with coordination and management activities for the Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) Program. Her responsibilities include, assisting with activities related to the development, implementation, and the analysis of the SPORE program; review of grant applications; preparation and analysis of tracking and reports; identifying and addressing SPORE related issues; and administrative support for SPORE program staff from pre-application to post award.

Ms. Hanlen has over 15 years of experience in public health. She has served as a qualitative scientist focusing on population health and grants management with Duke University’s QualCore for 6 years. During her time with Duke University, she was a co-author on over twenty peer-reviewed publications. Prior to that, she served as a program manager with the Icahn School of Medicine in New York City and the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center in Chinatown New York, for 10 years focusing on population level health initiatives. Ms. Hanlen received her Masters in Education from Lehman College and her Masters in Public Health with a focus in Global Health Leadership from New York University.
