Ovarian SPOREs
Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynecological cancer in women in the United States, and 313,959 new cases were diagnosed globally and 207,252 deaths from this disease in 2020. American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates that 19,710 new ovarian cancers will be diagnosed in the United States in 2023, and 13,270 women will die of this disease. The Ovarian SPORE was created in 1999 and has advanced our knowledge of ovarian cancer by gaining new insight into the origins of cancer utilizing and testing novel ideas. Research areas cover a broader scope that includes early detection, imaging technologies, risk assessment, and therapeutic approaches. Through collaboration, the ovarian SPORE researchers share expertise, ideas and help with the clinical accrual of patients.
